Here we go again….
The beginning of berry season is ahead of us. We will open Tuesday, June 3rd for blackberry picking. The blueberries are not ready yet. Hopefully we will have some blueberries beginning sometime around June 10th or June 11th.
When you come out to pick blackberries, please don’t ask us if you can pick the blueberries. We monitor the blueberries very carefully and, even though they may look ripe, I can promise you that they are not ripe – they are not sweet yet! We will send out a newsletter telling all of you when we are ready to pick the blueberries.
Just like the blackberries, we have a number of varieties of blueberries. They don’t all get ripe at the same time. If they did, we would only be open a couple of weeks each season. We should have blackberries thru June and maybe into the first week of July. We anticipate having blueberries until we close sometime around the middle of July.
A reminder –
We are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Our buckets hold a little over a gallon and we charge $12 per level bucket of berries. There is a minimum charge of $6 a gallon for ½ bucket or less. Anything between ½ bucket and a full bucket is prorated. “Our guess-ti-ment”.
We take cash, credit cards and checks.
Recipes
Since we are going to be picking blackberries, beginning Tuesday, June 3rd, I am sending you two more blackberry recipes. Both recipes combine blackberries with other fruit. The first one – the Black & Blue Berry Cobbler – includes blueberries and the other one – the Peach & Blackberry Bread Pudding includes another one of our favorite summer fruit – peaches. I know that you will enjoy both recipes.

See you soon. The berries are beautiful this year.
