A big "THANK YOU" goes out to all of you who came to see us sometime between June 6 and this Sunday, June 14. The blackberries were just getting started and I know that some of you didn’t get all that you wanted to get.
Beginning this next Tuesday (June 16) there should be plenty of blackberries for everyone who gets here early. This year we are opening at 9 AM and, if you will get here then or shortly thereafter, you should find lots of beautiful, sweet blackberries. Just remember that they get picked out most every morning. More ripen that afternoon and then overnight so that we can start picking again the next morning.
As I have told you before, our blueberries were caught by the late freeze on April 7 and we lost the majority of the berries for this year. Pearce is going to East Texas every week and is buying fresh blueberries for you to buy. As of today, we are out of the fresh blueberries and won’t have any more until Saturday, June 20 and are still $22 per gallon.
We do have some frozen blueberries available right now for you to buy and they are $20 per gallon.

Breakfast starts at 8:30 AM every morning for those of you who get here early. Our biscuits are big and beautiful and the sausage and sausage gravy that we put with them should fill anybody’s stomach. You can have coffee, milk or orange juice to go with it.
Lunch starts between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM every day. We are making wonderful Panini sandwiches. You will have your choice between either ham or turkey. You can add one of our four cheeses – either American, pepper jack, provolone or Swiss and then top off your sandwich with one of our 8 toppings – your choices include lettuce, ripe olives, green olives, grilled onions, roasted peppers, artichokes, jalapenos and banana pepper rings.
We also have bean salad, pasta salad and potato salad. We have both tea and blueberry lemonade to sooth your thirst. Over the years, many of you have asked for our recipe for the blueberry lemonade. The secret is the blueberry juice. I juice my own blueberries and OH!!!! is that good. I have quarts of blueberry juice for you to take home with you when you are here. It’s frozen and I will be happy to give you the recipe when you get here.
Special Events are a must-see for all!
Yesterday, L. A. Hudson was here doing his ventriloquist act. He really is good and I know that the children enjoyed him. Pearce was giving hay rides and plans to do that every Saturday.
R.W. High and his wife, Lenda, brought little “Summer Surprise” and her mommy. These were the miniature donkeys that I promised you that you would get to see. They will be here on June 20 helping us to celebrate Father’s Day. I know that everyone will want to bring Dad out to the Berry Patch to see them.
On June 20, Carroll Winkle will have two miniature horses out here. One of them pulls a cart and the other one pulls a wagon. These should really be fun to see.
Lanny Joe Burnett and his compares’ will be here to entertain you with funny stories and wonderful songs. We are also renting a bounce house for the children to use. Note to Mommies and Daddies – bring your camera.
For more information on these and other special events, please see our Calendar Page. |

I know that it has really gotten hot this week. Bring the sun screen – please. We will have plenty of blueberry lemonade, iced tea and blueberry lemonade to help cool you down. Come early since the mornings are a little cooler.
Can’t wait to see all of you !!!!
I am sending you one of our favorite cake recipes – It’s a lemon blueberry pound cake. It calls for 1 cup of blueberries; but, I used 1½ cups. I can promise you that this cake will not last long.
